Out Came the Sun: Overcoming the Legacy of Mental Illness, Addiction, and Suicide in My Family by Mariel Hemingway

3.0

This book was a fairly quick read, and it was somewhat interesting, but it just wasn't compelling. Maybe it was the fact that I already knew much of the story, or the fact that Hemingway considered Creator to be a "light comedy" - it's not, in case you were wondering, and it's long been a favorite movie of mine - but I just never felt absorbed in this book in the way I wanted to be. And honestly, maybe some of it for me was that I do enough of my own self-analysis - I don't need to read someone else's self-analysis, which is what a LOT of this book was. So I think you could probably skip this one, unless you have some obsession with the Hemingway family that this feeds.
