Dracula by Bram Stoker

dark mysterious medium-paced

4.0

everything that i was expecting this story to be was not what it turned out to be.

this is not a story about a vampire. it’s a story about ppl who have a strangly and almost disturbingly intimate relationship with each other that’s founded on trust but screwed up by keeping secrets. the unseen antagonist just happens to drink the blood of the women in the friend group.

maybe, MAYBE, five percent of the books was horror. there was some body horror and some perverted scenes but the majority of the plot just felt very british gothic and a little mysterious.

also stoker is so sexist so be warned that there will be many infuriating scenes and comments.
