American Dirt by Jeanine Cummins
4.0
I really enjoyed this book.
There was a lot of controversy about it--I've read a lot of posts and articles, but I remain steadfast that this is an important book to introduce to the average (American) reader the travails and tragedies of illegal immigration. The author wrote this in good faith for that express purpose and I feel badly that she has gotten so much criticism for having written this. She presented a story that will likely shed light on this issue, and hopefully will encourage people to read more about it, and care about it.
