I struggled with the first half because rivals-to-lovers isn't my favorite, and it felt like the MC was stuck on a loop. I'm glad I stuck with it, though, because Jonny is a fabulous author and this book delivered in the second half.

I did feel like the transition in the MC's attitude was kinda abrupt without much reflection, but it got much more satisfying towards the end when
he really had to confront himself and opened up to his friends after initially accepting the opportunity to be the sole lead and realizing it was a mistake.
The second half really hit the notes I was going for with the character growth and supportive relationships.
