The Queen of the Tearling by Erika Johansen
3.0

The book was ok. It is one of those light reads that you don’t take too seriously and don’t overthink things.
The book seems to be set in some sort of dystopian future. It is unclear what happened other than there was some sort of crossing and much technology, along with education and knowledge was lost. This means we are somehow living wild, wild, west style with a weird mix of magic set in the future that feels like the past and we are apparently very superficial. Character development is also lacking, but there is a pull to understand the secret of the Tearling Queens father and why she is able to do the things she does. I will still probably read the rest of the series because all in all, it wasn’t a bad book. It wasn’t great, but it passed the time.
