Shōgun by James Clavell

5.0

I was planning to start reading Shōgun during a trip to Japan. That trip got canceled for obvious reasons. But the reading happened anyway. And what a good story this is. What works really wel for me, a European reader, is that the story follows a European (English) captain. He is shipwrecked close to Japan and ends up on the island, a coutry he has only known as a myth. What follows is a great story about contrasting cultures and acceptance. It feels like I have been on a trip to another place in another time. I truly loved it.
