A decent read but it fell a bit flat for me. I felt like the narration style held us at arm's length so it was hard to connect with the characters and really care about what was happening. Instead, it felt more like I was watching a train wreck happen in slow motion. It straddles the line of being an allegory for change and coming-of-age in teenagers while also trying to be a horror story with demonic possession, but I feel like that held it back from being a better read. I think I would have preferred if it leaned a little more heavily in one direction and gave us more substance.
