Wise Blood by Flannery O'Connor

A confounding look into the mind of a fictional man whose struggles to comprehend the eternality of God mirror so much of our current generation. Hazel may be a prototypical relativist Millenial, choosing not to believe in that which he cannot understand, if it will not let him be who he desires to be. The grotesques of O'Connor's writing are challenging, heart-breaking characters whose desperation and wanton depravity show a taste of the human heart, unpolished. A challenging but helpful read.
