Clever Girl by Tessa Hadley

4.0

Stella, at around 50 years old, reflects on her life so far. She's had an interesting life, but is an everyday person. It's largely a chronological account which is so refreshing among the trend for nonlinear narratives. I really enjoyed reading Hadley write from first person perspective, as I've previously only read her in the slightly detached third. Clever Girl is a beautiful character study, which reminded me to trust in life's twists and turns and make the best of it.
