A spiritual text. Piranesi is so far my favorite character I've gotten to know this year. I went into this book knowing very little. that there was a man in a house with many rooms, and that Susanna, the author, has ME/CFS, which she has described as "cut off from the world, bound in one place by illness". I also have this illness. So it felt extra tender and moving to read from this perspective. I'm predicting this will be in the top five for this year, alongside I who have never known men.
