The Mime Order by Samantha Shannon
4.5

While The Bone Season focused on introducing Paige's powers and the world of the Republic of Scion, The Mime Order dives deeper into the gritty politics of the Underworld. This second installment shifts the focus to Paige’s complex relationship with her manipulative mentor, Jaxon, and the growing tension between loyalty and autonomy.

I really appreciated seeing Paige evolve—not just in terms of her abilities, but in her self-trust. She starts questioning who truly deserves her loyalty, navigating a web of deception, ambition, and shifting alliances. Her dynamic with Warden also grows more layered, filled with uncertainty, trust, and new emotions, while her bond with her found family becomes even more central.

This book is all about power plays and inner strength. I enjoyed watching Paige take charge of her own path while figuring out who she can really count on—and how far she’s willing to go to challenge the status quo.
