True to form, Barbara Kingsolver was on her game when she wrote this memoir of her family's attempts to live off of local foods for a year. The book is filled with helpful hints and fun factoids about growing your own food or finding local organic food that will help cut back on the petroleum consumption in your diet. Along with their personal stories, Kingsolver shares lots of online resources, a full list of sources and further reading, and plenty of recipes. It was a great book, and empowered me to try harder to become a locavore.
