The Proposal
by Katie Ashley
I'm soooo just "eh" about this book. Honestly, there really was no reason this "series" should have been 2 books, besides the almighty $$$. They easily could have been combined into one book with some decent editing of the more redundant parts of each. Also, there are a couple of plot devices that to me aren't really understandable, Pesh being one of them. To me, the love triangle was a bit overdone and unrealistic. I've been pregnant 3 times and NEVER have my hormones being so raging that I would jump into the arms of man while still being in love with another, no matter what he did to me. I think Pesh as a character is sweet, but too good to be true, and honestly if any guy acted that head over heels within moments of seeing me, he would immediately be thrown into the friend zone or blown off as stalkerific. He lacked a swagger or confidence that would have made me like him more, I just thought he was creepy.
Aiden's "brokenness" was downright laughable. I get it, you've had a girl screw you over in the past and you feel guilty for the way it all turned out. Dude, that was 8 years ago. That's nothing more than a literary crutch employed to make us believe this turn of events. It failed on me. Had is womanizing ways stemmed from something a little more traumatic, maybe I could have believed it, understood it or even accepted it. As it stands, nope, he's just a douche using what is nothing more than a mildly irritating past as an excuse for his current behavior.
Overall, this and book 1 were "ok." I like Aiden more in the beginning of this first book, when he still had the swag and aloofness. It seemed like they fell into insta-love (based on nothing but sex) and you lost me there. I would have rather seen their relationship grow realistically than it been "BAM...they're in LOVE, everything is perfect and now we are going to throw in some cheating and a love triangle to keep the story moving."
I don't know... some people seem to love this series. To me, it was just a little cliche and a lot boring.
