Snuff by Chuck Palahniuk

1.0

It's finally happened, I've become disenchanted by Chuck Palahniuk. Where most of his previous novels (barring Haunted) possessed some unifying purpose underlying all the gore, sexuality, and absurdity, Snuff just seems to be one bizarre piece of information after another with only a flimsy and predictable plot to keep the reader interested. He's proven continuously that he can come up with unique synopses and characters, but that's about as far as he manages to get with Snuff. Where is the content? Where is the meaning? Where is the inspired social commentary that takes the gratuitous beyond simple indulgence? The only things I came away with from the experience of reading this book was a handful of useless trivia and a confirmation of the all-too-obvious fact that pornography, both the industry and the subculture created by it, are ridiculous. Tell me something I don't know, Chuck!
