Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood
by Danny Trejo
Unflinchingly honest. Trejo has lived a long life full of so many interesting stories to tell on these pages. He details his younger days of crime and prison, the turning point when he discovered faith while in solitary confinement, his redemption through a unique career in Hollywood, and his belief that everything good that has happened to him is a direct result of him helping others. While I most enjoyed the behind the scenes information from the entertainment industry, it was so important that Trejo's troublesome early years be included since these helped shape the person he became. I'd love to pick his brain on a variety of topics over beers, and need to visit Trejo's Tacos someday. Trejo is certainly not an ideal audiobook narrator with an occasional halting delivery, but I can think of no better person to relay his personal experiences in that distinctive gravelly tone, and it was nice to hear longtime friend Logue speak about their close friendship at the very end.
