This book tries so hard to be one thing when it's clearly another. It was pitched to me as a Hades/Persephone retelling, and yes the Hades myth is touched upon, briefly. But it's much closer to a Orpheus and Eurydice retelling. Which is fine since there aren't a lot of those that I know of.
But when I picked this up, I wanted a Hades story.
I wanted to DNF this so bad until the last 70-100 pages. The time jumps sometimes took me out of the story, especially when the happened in the middle of chapters.
I don't know if I'll be able to stop myself finishing this series, if nothing else than to find out what happens to the main male character because I'm weak.
