A slow start, but a beautiful book eventually. It really captures the energy and atmosphere of 1970s San Francisco, as well as the host of different people you'd meet there. The characters are all so different - bisexual men and women, straight men and women, trans people, gay men... They all have their own charm to them, and even the ones that are possibly assholes are still loveable. The ending was so sad, but it was in a way still very fitting to the contained story of the first collection. A wonderful insight into the daily life of Californians. Highly recommended.
