The Towering Sky by Katharine McGee
4.0
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Complicated
Loveable characters: Yes

Satisfying conclusion to the series. Packed full of drama and suspense. Best thing about this book... Avery's huge fuck you moment. Unexpected and entertaining. Possibly the only thing she did in this whole trilogy I liked.

My one gripe with this particular book's plot centres around justice. As much as I grew to enjoy and appreciate Leda as a character I'm not sure I like the author giving her zero comeuppance for her "villain" moment in the first book. Sure, her crime wasn't premeditated but it also didn't seem like the accident the author has the witnesses believing it was by the end of the trilogy. To me it was a crime of passion and Eris deserved justice. However, I loved how the author wrote the "comeuppance" for the mother and daughter con artist duo. It was bittersweet, like I thought every other characters ending was going to be.

Overall, the plot for this trilogy is all over the place. There were so many things going on by so many different characters but a lot of it didn't connect and was seemingly just random. Like the mother and daughter con artists... They turned up in the second book, briefly interacted with the main characters, and then in the third book they had their own totally separate storyline. Which I didn't actually mind because the author writes interest characters with interesting backstories.
