This was such an engaging gothic mystery that touched on many important themes. I loved every minute of reading this!

Florence Granger was kicked out of her home by her father after a scandal. She finds a letter from one of her father's customers requesting assistance with his library collection. Florence goes to Rose Hall to meet Lord Belfield and convince him that her father sent her in his stead. During her stay, Florence uncovers secrets the residents of Rose Hall would rather keep buried.

I loved this story and most of its characters. Florence was progressive and ambitious. She knew that being a woman limited her career options, especially after her father kicked her out, but she figured out how to gain more time and fabricated a story to get into Rose Hall. Each character had secrets, and I couldn't wait to uncover them alongside her. I loved her friendship with Wesley and how she approached his secret. Although, she was shocked at first, their friendship recovered easily. I loved Wesley and his innocence. I wanted to protect him just as much as Florence did.

The ending was beautiful, unexpected, and pulled on my heartstrings.
