I found the premise surprisingly realistic, which is not something I expect from “marriage of convenience” stories. The legalese was just realistic enough for my brain to just go with it. Plus, I felt every character has realistic motivations and reactions to situations and not making decisions for the sake of moving the plot forward. Because of this, I became invested in the story very quickly. A bonus point on realism: Every character had an “old money” name. I mean, Emory?
Not to mention that Aiden and Emory have the cutest romance. Anything I want to mention is a complete spoiler, but Aiden is absolute book boyfriend material. Their magnetism to each other was paced well and their chemistry? Off the charts! The spice is SPICY!
This is not a fully five stars for me because there are some small flaws for me. For example: Emory sets a firm boundary on flirting at the start of their fake marriage, but starts flirting with Aiden immediately in the following chapter. Not that I truly mind, their flirting was wonderful.
This is a contemporary romance for true romantics. It’s got yearning and spice to die for. It’s a must read!
