omgggggggggg this book
The magical realism made things a little gray sometimes as to whether things were actually happening or not but it was sooo good. The rebuilding of the relationship between Kaui and her mom was the MOST BEAUTIFUL thing I've read in so long. The author's commentary on family relationships throughout the book is really relatable and is a testament to how sometimes family can be stronger than trauma. and sometimes it can't. By the end I felt like all of the characters and I were friends <3
