This ended up being a great pick in an audiobookless panic. Had no expectations, well except that I would maybe not finish it, but was pleasantly surprised when I was hooked with the story. It did its job to be entertaining & suspenseful.
My only reservation is this is the first in a series entitled The Kendrick Chronicles and DI Kendrick can easily bump off the two on The Killing series as dumbest cop so maybe there is a joke there I missed.
