Something Borrowed by Louisa George

3.0

This is a pretty classic romantic story in the "chick lit" vein... our protagonist is a wedding planner who has never quite recovered from The Jilting. Several months before the start of the book, she was left at the altar. To make matters worse, there was video footage circulated of her rugby tackling the best man (who bore the bad news) and beating him with her bouquet, so business has dwindled over time.

Predictably, the best man is now back in her life, and she's discovering that maybe she doesn't hate him after all? But after unlocking his Tragic Backstory, she has to face the notion that he'll never want to be more than friends with benefits. Which should be great, since she's professed to no longer believe in love. But it's always more complicated than that.

Quick, light-hearted read with some great moments. It's the first of a series of books by the author, but honestly, I think I'll keep it as a stand alone.
