The Taking
by Kimberly Derting
I cannot get over the utter ridiculousness of this book. And that is saying something especially since I knew what I was in for. I read the reviews and I knew there was going to be less focus on plot and more on the romance aspect of the story but I thought eh, why not?
I tried to focus on the romance and turn my brain off for the most part.
But for the life of me I cannot belive how utterly unbelievable the romance was. Seriously. Had I just come over after a 5 year long absence I would ask questions and try to find the answers to those questions. What I wouldn't do is fall head over heels for my ex boyfriends little brother. Forget the sleevey factor that said brother was literally 12 years old when you last saw him and that you were practically his babysitter at one point, saw him grow up from a toddler, for someone who feels like no time at all has passed since her "abduction" since she has no recollection of anything beyond that, you would think she would find it really really hard to just forget all about her boyfriend. EVEN if he had moved on with her best friend, and changed over time, Kyra hasn't had ANY time to process that. She dint have time to heal through that.
But noooo.
Kyra drops Austin like a hot potato and his memories down the drain faster than u can say alien-fucking-abduction. And this with the boy who was her best friend, who she had known all her life, grew up with, was going to college with and had plans to marry. I mean she gave not a flying fuck about the fact that scouts from prestigious universities offered her a full fucking ride to college beyond the crapy tiny town she grew up in. Noooo. She had plans...to go to collage and have Austin's baby.
which she just completely totally absolutely forgets about the second she gets a glimpse of baby Tyler who has turned into a BABE apparently in her absence.
Whoa. When did that happen? is it hot in here? *fans herself*
yehhhh. No.
So forgive me if I cannot jump on the Tyler bandwagon of LUUVVVVV. But I just find their romance and TRUE LOVE, after meeting for a total span of a week, unbelievably fucking ridicules.
I won't even talk about the plot or lack thereof.
I just couldn't relate with this book. It's gaping chasm of plotholes, the ridicules self centered oh-so-fucking-juvinile characters and the biggest drama queen protagonist of all time. Not.at.all.
