To the Bone by Alena Bruzas

4.0

Thank you to Bookishfirst, the Publisher, and the Author for the opportunity to read To The Bone!

This book had an aura of depravity and sadness from the very first page. It explores themes of genocide... cannibalism... etc. So please be warned before you dive in!

I really enjoyed the character development of Ellis, our main character who comes from a poor background. She is looking for her father in a new world, the America's.

There, she endures suffering by her employer, Master Collins. He treats her along with his wife like garbage and they're both trapped with him in the colonies.

I HATED how Ellis was treated. Hated the way she felt she was dirty and impure. It was so heartbreaking to see.

Her only freedom from her own living hell was Jane, and Jane was the sweet girl that Ellis found herself falling in love with. I wish I could've protected them both, OMG.
