Frustratingly mediocre especially because I was desperate to enjoy it given the initial setting.
The pacing in regards to both the actual progression of the story as well as the relationships within it is a mess all through the book especially concerning the ‘gang’, Zafira and Nasir are an an exception to this along with Altair.
So much more could have been done with the setting of Shaar and it’s inhabitants but the enemies felt so uninspired.
However, I do have more hope for the sequel as it will hopefully love away from some of my issues with this book.
