Not going to lie there's more and more these types of flaws that I find in romance books and I just can't seem to get over it; for the entirety of this book each time there's the genuinely chance for conflict and to prop up the plot with some - cathartic drama - nothing happens as we are treated instead to a backseat to the main characters' relationship, which to me felt - honestly - very boring not to talk at points excessive and too fast. There's no yearning and neither a clear communication of each other's emotion, leaving the book completely flat.
Certtainly we read romance to have an easier outlook on life, especially considering what the two characters went through, but at the same time it isn't as much as picturing a perfect world - that to me always feel too surreal to be belieable - as much as shoving all the problematic under a carpet as it felt. Undoubtedly it had its cute moments but I can't help but feel like it lacked so much. And don't even get me started by the fact that the 'show don't tell' type of narration is a complete stranger to the whole narrative arc, forcing us through so many obnoxious notions that we could see from the observation of the two characters.
Overall, it's a nice book but I felt like this book left me nothing but a slight annoyance and distaste for the romance genre.
