Confusing. The battles are generally confusing, and I think this is the lowest point in the series as far as story telling goes.

The second reading makes the fight part work better - however, the story starts to lose depth. While the authors orchestrate great and complicated fight scenes they have to resort to side-characters explaining what's happening - in this case Riful, the awakened being, becomes the spectator and the one to explain us what is going on.

That being said, the way the organization acts is at least strange. We're introduced to Alicia, but only barely, because the authors focus on the „fight in the north”. I understand that it'll be important (basically the next few books), but I feel that the authors are their own victims: the awakened beings are too powerful.

I feel indeed that there's a drop in quality, but it's still interesting; the relationship with Jean, as well as Clare meeting Miria, Helen and Deneve again are the two things that work.
