The Heart Tastes Bitter by Víctor del Árbol

3.0

One of those novels with a bunch of seemingly unrelated characters introduced at first but then their paths all cross and you can no longer keep up with the web of relations because it gets too complicated. Eduardo Quintana is the protagonist, the survivor of the hit and run car accident that killed his wife and daughter. He is a painter, but no longer has the passion for his art.

He is commissioned by this famous violinist Gloria to paint a portrait of the man who drunk drove and killed her son in a car accident. From that commission twisted events of the past are revealed, and everyone’s lives turns sh*ttier than they already are.

Usually I’m really into psychological thrillers like this one, and this book definitely has pros. But the story really didn’t stand out from the vast ocean of psychological thrillers out there. If you’re in the mood for a twisted mystery, then this will satisfy, but that’s what it is - stable.
