This book wins the award of “Least Offensive Internet Famous Book I’ve Read To Date”. While it was not perfect, it did suck me in and had me longing to read in a way I haven’t experienced in a while. I shockingly found myself highlighting several quotes, and while I didn’t love Ross’s writing (everything has to “taste” like something and over-use of certain adjectives), you could tell she tried to write a beautiful book, and 90% of the time, she succeeded. The romance itself was entirely predictable, but it didn’t make me gag. I appreciated the metaphor of taking off a piece of your armor for someone that you trust and letting them in, allowing them to affect you. Not thrilled with the cliffhanger ending but I’ll get around to the sequel eventually.
