I just adore this book! I was totally happily caught by surprise by just how funny this is! After all the emotions in Wolfsong, I'm very happy to meet these new characters. I was laughing and cackling at Rambo & Nurse Ratched. They are so not adorable but oh they are so precious. I won't say much more about them but that you really should read this one if you need a pick me up. In saying that though, seeing that this book is in some way a retelling of Pinocchio, there be some existentialist bits but also, just how depressing how we as humans have been treating the earth. There is a delicate balance in keeping your readers from being too depressed and there is also a delicate balance as to just how much you can push the jokes without being felt as trying too hard and I think this author has 100% achieved that.
