A Psalm of Storms and Silence by Roseanne A. Brown

3.0

I most definitely should have re-read the first book. Mostly because I didn't remember much. Still, I kept on with A Psalm of Storms and Silence. Eventually things started to make sense and my regret of not re-reading A Song of Wraiths and Ruin lessened.

The characters are so unique in this series that it's sort of hard to not like them. There were moments where things that needed to be said were. Which, yes, made me happy that people were talking about what I was thinking about. It made me feel like I was vibing with the characters in a way that rarely happens.

I also liked how Roseanne dove into those hard to talk about topics. One should definitely read the trigger warnings mentioned in this book and in other reviews before diving into this. If I'm being honest, I was a bit surprised with some of the topics that came up, but it made sense as to why it did.

Other than that, I did end up enjoying the book but felt like the plot had potential to be better than it was. At times I felt rather bored with what was happening because nothing really was. Or it was dragging in certain areas which made me want to skim like my life depended on it.

In the end, the ending was definitely the best part. Maybe I can overlook the pacing problems with how she concluded things but maybe I won't. I'll definitely dive back into this series later on in my life just so I can read it from start to finish. My opinion on everything might change then.
