Build the Life You Want: The Art and Science of Getting Happier by Oprah Winfrey
informative
inspiring

5.0
What is something EVERYBODY wants?
To be happy!
How do we do get happier?
Well a good place to start would be reading this book!
In Build the Life You Want, Arthur Brooks and Oprah Winfrey invite you to begin a journey toward greater happiness- no matter how challenging your circumstances. Drawing on cutting-edge science and their years of helping people translate ideas into action, they show you how to improve your life right now instead of waiting for the outside world to change.
This book was an immediate 5 star for me, not only because I enjoyed it and gleaned so much from it but also because
MY BROTHER
was one of the key professionals who assisted with the research and promotion of it!
So many of these principles are simple, and even straightforward but such good reminders of what the most important pillars of true happiness are:
1. Family
2. Friendship
3. Work and
4. Faith
I read portions of this book aloud to my husband which resulted in great conversation! And although this isn't a "Christian" book, I was surprised by how many of the themes and suggestions were- such as serving others in your work instead of serving yourself, making sacrifices to obtain greater joy and learning to manage negative emotions.
All truth is God's truth and this book is full of it! So proud of my brother and the work he is doing to increase happiness in the world!
