Kristin Hannah is largely responsible for getting me into the Historical Fiction genre last year so I thought it was fitting that I start my year off with one from her back catalogue.
I think if the same story was written by anyone else I would be giving it a harsher review: there was a lot of domestic violence and general bleakness and, if I'm going to be honest, it was kind of repetitive. However, the author is such a wonderful storyteller that I was engaged despite it all and polished this off in 2 days. Off to find something slightly less depressing to digest now though ...
