The Body in the Library
by Agatha Christie
Just like the first book, Marple is not the main character in the story that bears her name. And just like the first book, you feel that you should have guessed whodunnit if you'd just paid more attention. That's not a bad thing! In the Marple books Christie lays out motive for every character, along with alibis (of a sort) and lets you try to figure it out along with Marple. Which I like. Poirot, while fun, always made me feel five steps behind with his leaps of intuition and the inclusion of random knowledge of post-War Europe. (Banking houses falling? A Prime Minister resigning? And this all affects who could have done it?!)
Marple is a fun read, and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of them.
