I wont lie, I didn’t love this book. There were elements of the story and the plot that I really thought I was going to like. The initial premise seemed really interesting. But that is where it ended for me. The writing was often repetetive and stilted. Many of the lines and phrases made no sense in conjunction with each other. I also didn’t really like any of the characters. For instance, our FMC must have called or referred to herself as a genius half a dozedn times in the fist 60 pages, but not once do we actually see her do anything “genius.” At one point it says that she’s writing code, but it doesn’t make sense what she’s doing. The MMC Tristan Caine (and you won’t forget his name, because he’s always referred to by first and last name which ALSO got annoying) was passably dark and broody. His backstory was tragic and is the only thing that really saved this book in any way at the end. I wish I had loved it, and I’m happy for those that do, but it was not for me.
