Death and Fromage
by Ian Moore
Death and Fromage - Ian Moore
Richard and Valerie are back sleuthing again. This time a local restaurant in Saint Sauver is downgraded from a Michelin star 3 to 2, there is shame and shock and then the leading local goats cheese supplier drowns himself in his own pasteurisation tanks.
Richard is happy with his quiet life in the B&B in the Val de Floret but Valérie has other ideas and he is drawn into the investigation.
‘A body turns up, previously happy, successful families are ripped apart, secrets emerge and everywhere I turn there is my ex wife bounty hunter, possible assassin, and her lapdog.’
Richard is an archetypal Brit abroad, bumbling, horrified to be front and centre but is pleased that he gets mistaken for the Earl Of Grantham. Valérie is kick ass, a bounty hunter and has Richard eating out of her hand, not literally. The characters in this are good fun, it’s a light and humorous cosy mystery.
It turns out to be murder of course, with another body, family secrets and vegan cheese. There are lots of tongue in cheek gags and quite a bit of English/French banter. An easy flowing read, ideal for a holiday and a crisp glass of white.
‘All I want is a quiet life, you understand? A quiet life.’
Many thanks to Insta Book Tours and Farrago books for my copy of this book and spot on the blog tour
