this is, without a doubt, the best book i’ve read so far this year. here’s why:
- beautiful writing
- characters that felt consistent and therefore real (though I did get quite frustrated with them from time to time — i suppose this is one reason for the aforementioned perceived realness…)
- a way of weaving video games — their history, as well as the mechanics of them — into the story that felt natural and made me want to sit down and start gaming again
- the first book in quite some time that had me staying up late reading because i couldn’t put it down
and then there is, of course, that vague feeling some books evoke in you, that you can’t quite put your finger on. maybe that’s just me?
i don’t know.
that is to say, i loved this book.
read it.
bye.
