Funny You Should Ask by Elissa Sussman

this reads like a movie in all the best ways possible. chani is so real and raw, her journey to acceptance and love is just so beautiful, written in a way that makes you feel like you’ve achieved something in your own journey. the back and forth in timelines creates for amazing character development, one that allows you to fully understand her before she even understands herself. we also have the stunning slowburn romance, with so much pining and yearning, somehow based in both love and spite. i just love how it all plays out. something with the pacing felt off and i cant quite place a finger on it, but some parts felt too drawn out and then the ending felt rushed. but it was beautiful nonetheless.
