I'm honestly glad so many people love this book, but I bought it for the girls in three different families - and none finished it - we all thought it felt a bit sad and dark. Very Oliver Twist. I finished it to see if it got more magical and bright, and then I could suggest the families finish the story, but alas, I just didn't love it. We hadn't read The Boy called Christmas, and I see the movie trailer looks fabulous - maybe we needed to have read that first.
