I really enjoyed Speare's depiction of life during the time of Christ's teaching. It kind of fleshed out what's presented in the Bible about the Jews waiting for a Messiah under the oppressive rule of the Romans. I enjoyed Daniel's journey and growth from a boy wanting vengeance to a teen/young man looking for something more.
