Midnight Alias: A Killer Instincts Novel by Elle Kennedy

The story of Luke, an operative on an undercover mission, and Olivia, a young woman working as a stripper to help pay her mother's medical bills.

The two meet when Luke's team is trying to gather information regarding a missing undercover DEA agent and their investigation leads to the club where Olivia works.

Olivia is in over her head after the shady club's manager "helped her" out of the consequences of her killing a customer who attacked her when she was leaving the club one night, and used the opportunity to get her indebted to him. She managed to keep him at bay while she tries to raise enough money to leave with her sick mother, but hasn't yet reached her goal when Luke enters the picture

The two of them come to an arrangement that requires them to work together and they also become lovers, agreeing that the relationship between them is temporary. Luke and his team eventually complete their mission,

that ends with them catching the DEA agent red handed working with the cartels.

The club manager who is enraged that Olivia left him kidnaps her, but Luke swoops in and rescues her in a realistic yet anticlimactic confrontation
