A solid start and a strong finish, but overall, it didn’t grab me in quite the same way as Any Means Necessary. While the writing was still polished and the tension had its moments, I just didn’t feel the same level of chemistry between the characters in this one, which made it harder to get fully invested in their relationship.
The pacing also felt off, with most of the action packed into the first and final quarters of the book. The middle dragged for me, and I found myself waiting for something to reignite the spark that the beginning promised.
That said, there were still elements I enjoyed—Lila Herron knows how to build intrigue and write a sassy FMC, which always adds some fun to the mix. This one just didn’t resonate with me as strongly, but I’ll definitely keep reading more from her. Fans of slow-burn tension might still find a lot to love here.
