Pollyanna by Eleanor H. Porter

5.0

This book is one I am genuinely sad I missed reading as a little girl. It's the type of book I would have really enjoyed, had I known it existed before seeing it in the library last week. This book deserves 5 stars from me, not because it stands as a literary pinnicle of perfection, nor because it was free from cliches or exposition.
This book is, in its simplicity, so profound. It teaches lessons of an attitude of gratitude while cleverly diguising teaching a moral at all. It's just a little girl whose willingness to play "The Glad Game" literally changed the lives of those around her for the better.
And yes, it's better than the movie. (And I loved the movie)
