Amy, My Daughter by Mitch Winehouse

challenging emotional informative inspiring sad tense medium-paced

3.0

1st thing I will say is I hated the writing style of this book it was so hard to focus on and read at some points.
2nd thing is I nearly DNF this book but made myself read it as am a massive Amy Winehouse fan.
3rd thing is that this sounded more like Amy’s father was talking about someone else in parts of the book.
4th thing I hated the way he spoke about Amy’s ex husband in the book yeah her ex wasn’t a good man but he always wasn’t a terrible man. (Respect other people I say).

I cried at the last 10% of the book even though I know what was coming it was a heartbreaking read to hear what Amy’s parents had to go though after her sad passing. I like the little bits of the cards he put it at the beginning of the book it showed you a bit of Amy’s character. The photos in the book were absolutely stunning. This book really told you the true story of Amy and who she was and how she tried so hard to stay alive and beat her addictions that she had in her later part of life. She was only 27 when she died she had a full life ahead of her. I just wish we got to see more of her mum and her bother in this book as it focused a lot on Mitch and he kept saying Amy’s mother was a good mum but he didn’t show that much at all. Xx
