Mira Grant writes horror that chills my bones. I reread this series often but this first one is my favorite.
Graphic: Gore, Grief, Murder, Religious bigotry, Sexism, Animal death, Blood, Body horror, Chronic illness, Death, Gaslighting, Genocide, Gun violence, Injury/Injury detail, Kidnapping, Medical trauma, Suicidal thoughts, and Violence
Moderate: Chronic illness, Fire/Fire injury, Mental illness, Car accident, Classism, Cursing, Death of parent, Forced institutionalization, and Gaslighting
Minor: Incest, Medical content, and Schizophrenia/Psychosis
zombies, extremely good and sound virology, several main characters including the main pov protagonist die, also there's hints confirmed in later books that the two main characters are in an incestuous relationship
