I was so excited for this book. I devoured this book. It was really good!

While the first book spent so long developing the world and the space in which the characters play, this one was dedicated more to the characters themselves, what was going on in their minds and dedicated to their development. And a lot of the characters!!! Went on some wild journeys!!! In finding her Sun God, Naranpa found grief and despair, longing and hurt. Serapio’s god abandoned him, leaving him longing not for more death but for solid human connection, leaving him broken as he struggles to only find it in his greatest enemy. Xiala was there!

I think my biggest complaint with this one, like many other reviews I read, was the pacing. There was just So Much going on all the time, and I don’t know if all the events that took place needed so much dedicated time, and honestly, I think some arcs maybe could have been cut? And this is from someone who also wants to cram 8000 things into the things I write so I get it. Also this one was really gory compared to the last one and I didn’t like that xx
