Girly Drinks: A Women's History of Drinking by Mallory O'Meara

informative medium-paced

3.5

I love the idea of this book. I think the content of the history of women drinking is amazing. I like that there are women of every race and background mention. I think there were historical women not made the chapter titles that should have been but a white European woman was chosen (which may have been due to information availability but it seemed like there was plenty as those women’s stories were told). I liked some of the narrative structure used but felt it left out in some places. I wish there had been more time place markers to give a little more indication where and when you are. The constant movement between stories and jumps back made it a confusing a lot of times when a short ´Back in England that sad year of 1999´ could have possibly helped. That is from me reading the audiobook however. It would have most likely been easier to follow on page.
