The Sisters Brothers by Patrick deWitt

5.0

Exactly up my alley: a fun Western-adventure of two brothers, who travel from Oregon City to San Francisco for a contract killing. But on their way they‘ll stumble in many crazy, fun and dangerous situations. In the course of their journey the more pensive of the two (and our narrator) Eli wonders if there is more to life than just shooting and killing men?

Loved the dark humour, the narration and the atmospheric details. Between all the absurd situation beats a melancholic heart and this grounds the story to a great extent. The end feels a bit rushed and random, but overall I enjoyed this novel tremendously.
