The book hooked me at the dedication and kept me hooked throughout the whole book ! The dedication reads “For those who wanted Zuko and Katara to end up together.” Although the characters were somewhat inspired by ATLA, Korraine and Bellamy are uniquely their own people. I really like that when we were switching POV‘s we were able to get such a good picture of each of the characters and what they valued. I feel like it gives the reader an opportunity to get to know both of the characters individually, and as they come together.

I feel like the enemies to lovers trope was drawn out to be able to do a lot of the world building that’s done in this book. With that being said, I thought it was a solid read. I enjoyed it a lot. I’m the only one who enjoys the slower pace of this book.
I also feel like the plot twist at the end was so well executed and Oh my goodness! It had me at the edge of my seat! Just when I thought the book was going to be over here comes some twists and turns!!

I feel like this book is a solid foundation for what is going to come in the rest of the series. There is a lot of world building and a lot of context build in this story. I am so very excited for book 2! Thanks so much to MK Ahearn for this advance reader copy & Tiktok for introducing me to this author!
