The book hooked me at the dedication and kept me hooked throughout the whole book ! The dedication reads “For those who wanted Zuko and Katara to end up together.” Although the characters were somewhat inspired by ATLA, Korraine and Bellamy are uniquely their own people. I really like that when we were switching POV‘s we were able to get such a good picture of each of the characters and what they valued. I feel like it gives the reader an opportunity to get to know both of the characters individually, and as they come together.
I feel like the enemies to lovers trope was drawn out to be able to do a lot of the world building that’s done in this book. With that being said, I thought it was a solid read. I enjoyed it a lot. I’m the only one who enjoys the slower pace of this book.I also feel like the plot twist at the end was so well executed and Oh my goodness! It had me at the edge of my seat! Just when I thought the book was going to be over here comes some twists and turns!!
I feel like this book is a solid foundation for what is going to come in the rest of the series. There is a lot of world building and a lot of context build in this story. I am so very excited for book 2! Thanks so much to MK Ahearn for this advance reader copy & Tiktok for introducing me to this author!
